The pictures displayed are actually from the Zulu community which in addition to having a reed dance like the swazis, also tests girls’ virginity. the white circle and the certificate are proof of this. The Swazis have a reed dance but do not test for virginity.
The Swazi ceremony is not wholly derogatory to women as it is done to honour the Queen mother. The auxillary function of picking a queen is the problem and this is fast becoming defunct.

Is the ceremony organized solely for the king to select one virgin young woman ?
A ceremony is practised by the Akan people of the Gold Coast as the coming of Age ceremony and some other ceromonies where half-nude ( which is not a problem in itself) men and women performs ceremonial rituals.it serves its purposes in the community
I think it is very interesting in the sense that it shows the understanding of sexuality,sexual behaviors and taboos in an African context.
I would like to find out more about this ceremony’s goals,objectives,guidelines and the benefits/costs to the Swazi society.
Women with private part up for inspections is not something out of space, they do it with Gyneacology in the 20th-21st century

Having lived in Swaziland most of my life (and seen a few of the many Reed dance celebrations) I can attest to the fact that the pictures being shown are indeed not representative of the Swazi culture/Reed dance (as stated by Sam).
However I do not condone the actions of the king, especially in a nation that is on the verge of being wiped off by AIDS, poverty and draught. The king should take the peoples well being and needs to heart and lead by example, if not then he is not fit to be a king nor a leader of any sort.
NB: the Swazi culture is a beautiful and colourful one and is being grossly misinterpreted and misrepresented on the internet (especially in pornographic sites).
