The Tanzania chamber of commerce has invited the VCCI to send a business delegation to Tanzania to seek business and investment. Cost of registering new business in Tanzania drops
September 11, 2006 · 2 Comments
A new global business survey by the World Bank has discovered that the cost of registering new business in Tanzania has dropped by 40 percent. This rare plus comment from the Bank cites reduction in licensing requirements, introduction of an electronic customs clearance system and implementation of risk-based inspections of cargo at ports as factors which have jointly worked to improve the country’s business image. ”As a result, customs clearance times dropped from 51 to 39 days for imports, and 30 to 24 days for exports” the report says. Recently, Tanzania also cut fees associated with transferring property by 3 per cent and revisited its company law to improve the situation. It ranks Tanzania as one of the most reforming countries which have succeeded in reducing red-tapes and other bottlenecks which discourage business growth. This year the country ranked 147th country in comparison to its last year position of 175, this being an improvement of 8 points. The survey, which was conducted across 175 economies, has come out with Tanzania and Ghana as being the 10 top reformers on the ease of doing business. According to the report, the 10 top reformer countries in order are Georgia, Romania, Mexico, China, Peru, France, Croatia, Guatemala, Ghana and Tanzania.
